Sunday Races
Want to hone your boat handling skills, learn the rules of sail boat racing, and just simply have fun on the water? The C15 fleet is developing a regular Sunday afternoon set of races followed by a BBQ and conversation. Bring your wetsuit and enthusiasm to the club EVERY Sunday afternoon at 3pm. We will meet in the boatyard to rig and launch the boats. There will be discussion of racing and right-of-way rules, racing drills and actual races, as determined by the interest of each week’s participants.
For the post-sailing BBQ, please bring your own main course to grill. Bring a dish to share. Please contact Charlie Quest for further info.
NEW! - HMBYC Boat Use Policy
Members wishing
to Skipper HMBYC boats will be required to pass a re-Authorization
checkout before July 1st, 2007
The Sailing Committee worked hard in 2006 to establish a practical,
safety-oriented Boat Use Policy and supporting set of practices.
This has received Board approval and is now in effect. A Sailing
Cabinet adorns the wall inside the Clubhouse. It will contain
everything required to observe the policy - sailing logs, VHF
radios, keys, waivers, copy of the policy, etc.
In the interests of safety, all Members wishing
to Skipper HMBYC boats will be required to pass a re-Authorization
checkout before July 1st 2007. This assesses skills in
rigging, boat handling, safety and rescue procedures, awareness
afloat and knowledge of club procedures. New sailor or old hand,
regardless of history or known experience, we're all going to
re-Authorize - even the Club examiners. This ensures that everyone
will have a consistent experience and knowledge of their responsibilities.
It will be a great refresher for everyone! (What's that part of
the sail called?)
An Authorized Skippers list of members
believed competent to Skipper boats pending their re-Authorization
has been compiled. It exists to ensure that nobody's sailing activities
are inhibited while at the same time establishing our forward-looking
structure. We do not pretend this list to be 100% comprehensive
and accurate. Please check the list out and if you believe you
are misrepresented (or just plain missing) don't be offended,
just contact Neal Wehtje nealwehtje@comcast.net 650-726-1011.
If you are an active sailor, contact Lauren Eisele 650-728-3028 ewindfallsea(at)aol.com to schedule a time to run you through re-Authorization. If you are
a non-sailor looking for a Skipper to take you on the water for
the fun of it, this list will help you find someone to do that
with you. It will be constantly updated on the web as re-Authorizations
and corrections occur so you can always see latest status.
